Compassionate Cognitive Care for Adults and Aging Loved Ones
Expert screening, diagnosis, and ongoing management of memory changes — using evidence-based tools like BrainCheck to protect cognitive health.
Memory Loss Is Not ‘Just Aging’ — And You’re Not Alone
Many patients and families are scared to bring up memory changes. Others worry that mentioning forgetfulness will automatically mean “dementia,” when in reality, many causes of cognitive impairment are treatable or reversible. Sadly, many individuals suffer in silence, or are told their concerns are “normal for your age.”
At Family Medicine MMC, we approach cognitive care with deep compassion, clinical precision, and respect. We provide clarity — not fear — by identifying whether symptoms are due to normal aging, cognitive impairment, reversible medical causes, or a neurodegenerative condition. Our goal is to support both patient and family every step of the way.
A clear, compassionate path to understanding memory changes, receiving an accurate diagnosis, and creating a care plan that supports both the patient and their caregiver.
When Should You Seek Cognitive Evaluation?
Cognitive changes can appear slowly and subtly.
Early evaluation allows us to identify causes that may be treatable — such as sleep issues, depression, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems, medication effects, or uncontrolled chronic conditions. Even when cognitive decline is progressive, early intervention leads to better planning, safety, and quality of life.
Signs to watch for:
Memory loss that disrupts daily life
Getting lost or confused with time, place, or familiar routines
Difficulty planning, organizing, or solving problems
Misplacing objects and being unable to retrace steps
Trouble finding words or following conversations
Changes in mood, personality, or behavior
Withdrawal from social activities
Increased anxiety or irritability
If you or a loved one is experiencing these symptoms, early evaluation is essential.
